Rats given oral alpha-tocotrienol before an induced stroke showed smaller areas of brain damage than untreated animals.

The team first checked that oral alpha-tocotrienol reaches the brain. It did, and levels rose with supplementation.

After an experimentally induced stroke, supplemented animals had less brain tissue damage. This bridges the earlier cell work and later human trials.

Key takeaway: Supports the cell-culture findings in a living animal. Animal stroke models do not always predict human results.
